How can thinking about folk and fairy tales help us to understand transhumanism in science fiction? Though transbiology and transhumanism are relatively recent terms, these concepts have long been part of folk narrative, especially mythology and fairy tales. This exploration of fairy tale precursors to the scientific imagination will help illuminate enduring questions about what it means to be human.
