DS9 was singular in the Trekverse for its dramatic and often troubling depictions of interstellar politics, from people of honor and ideals frequently being forced to question or compromise their beliefs, to those who make no pretense of using any ends to justify their means. For the 25th anniversary of its premier, a discussion of the series and its eerie prescience regarding real-world political conflicts and issues since its airing.
